Spring Sports: CB West Softball
By: Julia Donald
As spring approaches, many West students can be found participating in or observing the many spring sports games that take place every day after school.
West softball seems to have a promising season ahead of them. As of April 7th, they have had two great wins against Truman and Wissahickon. The game at Wissahickon ended with a run-rule and a final score of 16-1. Both games at Truman and Wissahickon saw multiple homeruns.
Returning varsity player Eleanor Cooper explained how playing West softball has allowed her to build great relationships with the other girls and stay involved in the school. “It’s a very different vibe from club softball” she explained, “but it’s nice to build relationships on and off the field with the people around you at school”.
Compared to last season, this year looks different for the girls because they lost five starters. Last year, the girls made it to the second round of playoffs. Nevertheless, between new players and a great team dynamic, this season looks hopeful for the Bucks. Eleanor believes that the team has “awesome energy and a great bond”, allowing them to “trust each other on the field and have tough conversations about how to better themselves for the team”.
As for her goals for the team this year, Eleanor hopes to make playoffs and build a strong relationship with the underclassmen on the team.
The following is the girls’ schedule for the rest of the season:
